AM JUST A MAN

 

am just a man

yea am just a man possibly like any other. a man who's under societal obligation to vent for his family a man whose most choices are not made by him but by the society.

if only one day I could decide not to go to the office and just rest at home and have no explanation to do to my boss and not to have to lie to him that the uncle to the uncle to the uncle to that uncle who is an uncle to my friend's uncle came to the city and I couldn't leave him alone because he is new and could not maneuver
 his way around.

Am just a man whose hopes and dreams are built upon the expectations of a thousand relatives who feel that just because they have  been neighbors to my granddad then I am under moral obligation to share part of my salary with them, travel upcountry every weekend carrying two heavy bags of food like a delivery boy to them.
am just a man who works day and night all my life making money just to get a wife and make all that wealth just to make and leave a will  for her and my kids.

Am just a man who spends all my hard earned money to take my kids to school and when they grow up they only celebrate mother's day.

Am actually lost in the model that the society is craving so much to turn me into that I haven't spent a minute trying not to be just a man
